Northshore Substance Abuse Program
Our Northshore Substance Abuse Program includes substance abuse Prevention/Intervention Services and outpatient treatment services for youth.
About the Program
Prevention Intervention Specialists work in the middle and high schools in the Northshore School District providing screening, assessments, prevention, intervention and alcohol drug education classes to reduce suspension time due to alcohol and other drug offenses during school or on school property during scheduled school events.

Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Treatment programs are provided at our Bothell location.

Treatment services include:

Assessment: The Global Assessment of Individual Needs (GAIN) tool is utilized for assessment. Staff are certified to administer this evidence-based tool.
Outpatient & Intensive Outpatient Treatment: Placement into these programs is based on American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. The program utilizes the evidence-based treatment curriculum called Seven Challenges. Groups, individual sessions and family sessions are provided as indicated based on individual needs.

Prevention and intervention services include:

School-based Prevention/Intervention Services: CHS has two Prevention/Interventionists who serve the middle and high schools within the Northshore School District. We offer education, screenings, consultation, full interventions, and referrals. In selected NSSD middle and high schools, we offer the LifeSkills Training curriculum, an evidence-based prevention curriculum.
Saturday ATOD Classes: These prevention classes are offered once a month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at our Bothell site (call for exact dates 425-408-7970). These classes are free to Northshore School District families and costs $50 for out of district families. The Saturday Class meets the requirements of the Northshore School District as a suspension alternative. Parent(s) and youth are expected to attend.
