Current service area: Cities of Shoreline, Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest
Park, North Seattle and Woodinville
Staff and volunteers: Family Support is currently staffed
by 33 dedicated staff members 17.8 FTEs). In
addition, we utilize interns, AmeriCorps members and volunteers. In 2007, our volunteers
contributed 9,570 hours of service. The Family Support Centers have bi-lingual and
bi-cultural staff members that continuously work on building relationships with
families and developing culturally relevant programming.
Profile of participants: In 2007, our Family Support Program served
1,961 people in ongoing classes and activities and several thousand people that
came through our doors for WIC, emergency food, cultural events and to use our clothing
exchange area. We serve mainly immigrant and refugee families, and/or families living
with a low or very-low income. 22.6% of people in North King County are living below
200% of Federal Poverty level, according to the 2004 American Community Survey data.
Budget and sources of funding: Our annual program budget is $725,000
(07-08 fiscal year). Our diverse funding sources include local cities, King County
Housing Authority, United Way of King County, United Way of Snohomish
County, individual contributions and foundations such as
Social Venture Partners, AMGEN Foundation, Northwest Children's Fund and
Boeing Flight to the Future.
