In 1983 the Center for Human Services established an award in honor of one of our
founders and long-time board member, Grace Cole. In addition to her overwhelming
support of CHS, Grace served her community as a school board member and as a member
of the state House of Representatives. She championed education and family support
issues, and led the way for those who would follow her.
Selected each year by our Executive Director, the Grace Cole "Volunteer of the Year"
award goes to a CHS volunteer who has followed Grace's example of serving her community
as a whole as well as making a difference for CHS.
Recipient of the 2009 CHS Grace Cole Award: Olga Perelman

The 2009 Grace Cole Volunteer of the Year is Olga Perelman.
Olga currently works for Microsoft and in her spare
time is a board member for Center for Human Services. Part of
Olga's board volunteerism has included her seat on the Boards'
Recruitment Committee, where she, together with the committee,
surveyed the existing board for where the strengths laid, where
CHS was lacking in skills for the Board's makeup and how to move
forward strategically in building the board. Olga further
sits on the CHS Strategic Planning Committee, currently
researching and strategizing the steps CHS will take over the
next three years to insure CHS is on the right track for the
most beneficial support and positive impact on the surrounding
communities. Olga has additionally been
instrumental in assisting CHS with many personnel policies and
procedures, and was a table host at the 2009 Community
Connections Dinner Auction, among so much more.
In 2009 Olga provided many hours to CHS in volunteer
services throughout her positions. She further capitalizes on
her time and her monetary donations by applying to her employer,
Microsoft, for matching funds in all arenas including her volunteer
hours, items donated, and the monetary gifts she
contributes. Olga has been a supportive
part of the Board since her arrival here at CHS, making a
significant difference toward the overall health of our
community. CHS values her work and her efforts in helping CHS to
strengthen the community. Thank you, Olga!
